Start outside the Ol' Duke hotel (1855), the town's original hotel and a lovely National Celtic Festival venue.

Walk up steep Harding St, past the picturesque RSL building (heritage listed, former National Bank) and the small memorial garden.

Across Fenwick St, past St Patrick's Hall (1942) a centre for community activities for many years, heritage listed and a National Celtic Festival venue.

At the intersection of Harding St and Smythe St cross the road with care. You have left the 19th and are now in the 21st century. These mansions are part of the Arlington Rise development.

Turn left into the development and proceed up the path to the pleasant small garden and viewing point. Enjoy the view. Return to Newcombe St.

You can find out more about the history of Portarlington by visiting the Bellarine Historical Society's link (see above).

Although Google estimates that this walk will only take 13 minutes, we recommend that you walk at your own pace as this route does involve a hill!
