A walk through the Merri Creek Grasslands (or Galada Tamboore) from the Whittlesea Public Gardens.
Start at the car park of the Whittlesea Public Gardens. Walk around the lake to the very conspicuous bridge crossing the Hume Freeway. Then walk along a wandering path through the Merri Creek grasslands, known as Galada Tamboore (Wurundjeri for 'stream waterhole',) along a rougher, wetter path for a section, cross Merri Creek and head west towards the Campbellfield light industrial area, where the track turns south parallel to Merri Creek, with fine views of the city and the plains. There are some side tracks, one descending into the Merri Creek gorge, and the other with good views in all directions. The track continues as far as Horne St, but is being extended across the Somerset Rd drain.
