Description

Our walk took in a tour through the Conservatory to take in the view of the Dahlia exhibition, a tour throught the new Library, a climb up the Poppett Head Tower, a steep incline, veiws of Historic Buildings (Old Post Office, Court House, Shamrock Hotel) as well as lovely lawns and trees.

Points of Interest

1. Conservatory Building

The Conservatory has regular displays of floral delights, currently showing a glorious array of Dahlia's in bloom

2. Poppett Head Tower

The Poppett head is an icon of the past Gold Era in Bendigo's history. It has 124 steps to climb and is a real test on the legs and stamina of walkers

3. Bendigo Art Gallery

The Art Gallery has just completed extensive renovation and expansion. the back of the Gallery has a display of scultures behind the glass external wall enhanced by mirror pool infront of it.

4. Fountain and Cascades

A cast Iron Fountain conclues the stone enhanced cascades that use recycled water, a refreshing piont to gather one's breathe.

5. Old Post Office and Court House

From this point you are standing in veiw of the awsome architectural work of the old GPO and the still used Court House.

6. Shamrock Hotel

7. Gold Fields Library

Our newly renovated library was an obvious visit while walking, we took a brief but continuous walk through the library building to take in the layout and design of this modernisation.

8. City of Greater Bendigo Council Offices

The lawned area around the Council Offices provided a fresh clean natural setting which plays host to beautiful native Parrots and Galahs fossicking for seeds in the thick lush lawn.

9. Rosalind Park

A naturally peacefull area of Lawns, Trees, Shrubs and plants. With sealed tracks that provide cycling and walking paths, this is home to many people exercising in a healthy refreshing environment.
